We are the current holders of The Best Sports Venue in the region, from at least 400 pubs and bars – a title we have held since 2019. This honour was given to us by industry experts who saw our unique eye for detail when it comes to promoting and presenting live sport. In 2019, we were invited to the National Awards as one of 3 finalists in the category and we also won the Best Marketing Initiative for how we delivered The World Cup 2018.
Watch Live Football at The Pub
The Woolpack Sports Bar is renowned in Huddersfield as one of the best venues to watch live football. On a Saturday afternoon, you will find 3 big screen HD TVs showing live football scores, and the big game live on our 90 inch HD projector turning our pub lounge into a stadium!
The Woolpack Sports Bar is an official venue for Sky Sports. There is no foreign commentary, unreliable signals or poor quality picture. We show official broadcast games to the highest quality.
During World Cup 2018, we even opened our secret garden up, with a huge TV screen showing matches outdoors under our sheltered canopy with a bar, BBQ and table service to boot. During EURO 2020 this space proved to be the hub of our festival feel, with a chorus of chants and songs bellowing out for all to join in!
We absolutely love the big game atmosphere, with the volume turned up to the max and even support from the trumpets of Terrier Brass (Huddersfield Town’s official band) during the World Cup. We check every seat for optimal viewing position and re-arrange the layout to create standing areas. If you don’t believe us, check our Facebook!
You even have a chance of winning big money when watching big football matches at The Woolpack Sports Bar. Our own in-house score predictor runs for selected matches in which for £2 you pick the final score (and the time of the first goal as a tie-breaker) and if you win, the whole pot is yours. Most weekends we payout £40-£70, but when we have no winner, it rolls over to the next game and has reached up to £700 before!
All Sports Live at The Woolpack Sports Bar
It’s not just football that we show at The Woolpack Sports Bar. We have a strong following for rugby, regularly showing Super League action and England Internationals including the Six Nations.
Horse racing is another popular sport at our sports bar. We always run popular tipping competitions for the Cheltenham and Ascot Festivals with cash prizes being handed out while watching the big races. The Grand National, of course, is another big racing event for us.
We have great connections with local sport too. Almondbury Woolpack FC run from our pub, two football teams who won back to back league titles 2015/16 and 2016/17. We also host cricket teams during the summer, tennis clubs, badminton clubs and run golf tournaments.
